The Federal Stimulus and the Classroom, a Webinar for Reporters

April 24, 2009
1:30 pm ET

Application Deadline: Ended

School districts across the U.S. are beginning to receive their share of billions of dollars from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, money that is flowing into states at a time of budget cuts that may threaten the jobs of teachers and eliminate existing programs. The stimulus aid for education will also require states to show improvement in teacher quality, data systems, academic standards and tests.

This Webinar gave journalists the perspective of school district leaders and analysis from a federal budget expert with the New America Foundation, along with guidance on what to ask localofficials about their plans for this additional funding.
