William T. Gormley, Jr. is University Professor, Professor of Government and Public Policy, and Co-Director of the Center for Research on Children in the U.S. (CROCUS) at Georgetown University. He has written several books, including Everybody's Children: Child Care as a Public Problem. His articles on early childhood care and education have appeared in Science, Developmental Psychology, the Journal of Human Resources, the Public Administration Review, and elsewhere.Since 2001, Dr. Gormley has directed an evaluation of Oklahoma's universal pre-K program, focusing on the effectiveness of the Tulsa Public Schools pre-K program in promoting school readiness. Results of that evaluation have been reported on National Public Radio, in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and elsewhere.
