The Institute launched The Hechinger Report, which is collaborating with other outlets on analytic, independent education coverage.

The Hechinger Report worked with Washington Monthly to produce a special section on the dropout crisis in this month's edition of the magazine.

Reporters new to the education beat are invited to join us in New York City in July as we explore topics from pre-kindergarten to teaching and learning in an era of reform and reductions. We’ll offer optional multimedia training, tips on how to interview children and a look at what happens to school budgets after the stimulus money is gone. We’ll also look at the debate over how teachers are evaluated and compensated.
